Inspiring and equipping people and organisations to build a better world for all

Working with values

All too often sustainability implementation efforts have limited effect because they are contrary to the underlying values of employees and the organisation. Learn why values are important and how to work with values in a manner that builds a better business and society.

Session description

Values are at the core of our personal and organisational attitudes and behaviour. They inform the decisions that are made. Yet few individuals or corporations consciously reflect on their values in the context of sustainability. This course offers the opportunity to reflect on this issue and understand why a deeper focus on values is essential for building a future that is better for all. This course builds on the comprehensively researched Common Cause work.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • What are values and why are they important?
  • How do values work?
  • What values lead to a more sustainable society?
  • The concept of frames (how values influence our worldview) and framing (how to communicate deeper values more effectively).
  • How deeper values are being applied in organisations that are sustainability leaders.

Short case studies, video clips, exercises and discussions will be used to enliven the sessions and deepen the learning experience.

Who is this course for?

  • For executives and managers wanting to deepen their personal and organisational sustainability commitment.
